Detour is a grassroots community effort based out of the Ogden to Salt Lake City, Utah area. We collect used skate equipment and distribute it free of charge to local skaters who need it. No cash, no fundraising, no red tape — just gear moving from people who have it to people who need it.
Anyone. If you need gear and we have it, it's yours. That said, kids 18 and under are our first priority when it comes to fulfilling requests. If demand ever outpaces supply, younger skaters get first dibs.
Fill out the equipment request form. Tell us what you need and where you're at. We'll reach out within 3 business days to let you know if we can fulfill it. If we can, we'll set up a meetup at a local skatepark of your choice and get you sorted.
We're just getting started, so inventory changes constantly. We'll post updates on social media when gear comes in. If you need something specific, submit a request anyway — we may have it or it could be just around the corner.
Fill out the donation form and let us know what you have. We'll reach out within 3 business days to arrange either a meetup at a local skatepark or a pickup — whatever works best for you.
Decks, completes, trucks, wheels, bearings, hardware, and grip tape. If it skates, we want it. We are not currently accepting protective gear of any kind.
Functional is what matters — not cosmetic. We're not looking for pristine. We're looking for gear that still has life in it. A beat-up deck that still pops and feels strong is exactly what we want. We inspect everything that comes in and make the call on whether it's safe to pass along. If it's got too much wear to skate safely, we'll pull it.
