Detour Skate Initiative is an informal community effort run by skaters in the Ogden to Salt Lake City, Utah area. We collect used skate equipment and distribute it free of charge to local skaters who need it. That's it.
Detour Skate Initiative is not a 501(c)(3) organization, nor any other type of registered nonprofit or charitable entity. We have no formal legal structure, no registered tax-exempt status, and no organizational affiliation with any nonprofit, government body, or charity.
Equipment donated to Detour Skate Initiative is not a charitable contribution for any legal or tax purpose. You will not receive a tax deduction, receipt, or any other financial or legal benefit associated with charitable giving. We don't accept money — only gear — and nothing exchanged through this initiative carries the benefits of a formal donation to a recognized nonprofit.
All equipment distributed through Detour Skate Initiative is provided as-is. We inspect and assess gear before distribution, but we make no guarantees regarding the condition, fitness for use, or safety of any item. Detour Skate Initiative is not responsible for any injury, damage, or loss resulting from the use of equipment obtained through this initiative.
